Day 6. Trip 3 of 11 with Wildside Nature Tours.
Short update tonight. I am bushed. Today was better with 114 species for the day. Trip total stands at 181. Year total up to 337 now.
Highlights today included the sighting of a bobcat bounding across the road in a flash at Anahuac NWR!
And High Island had some warblers. Okay. More than yesterday’s ONE warbler species. We had Blackburnian Warbler, Black-and-white Warbler, Hooded Warbler, Common Yellowthroat, and Cerulean Warbler. And a Painted Bunting. Male. Wow. Just wow.
Bolivar Flats had Black Terns and Common Terns in addition to the regulars. Plover diversity was decent with Black-bellied Plovers, American Golden-Plovers, Wilson’s Plovers, Piping Plovers, Semipalmated Plovers, and Killdeers.
Whimbrels, Swanson’s Hawks, Scissor-tailed Flycatchers, and Upland Sandpipers were along the main entrance road to Anahuac.
